Tim Cubitt is a local go-getter, always making time to help out with grassroots initiatives and projects. He is undeniably a much-loved member of the Newman community and we’re pleased to celebrate him as part of our Newman Local Leader series.
Tim has been working for Monadelphous for many years now. Originally, he was based in Perth and when Monadelphous was awarded the Maintenance Services Contract in Newman it just made sense for him to make the move and call Newman home. It’s been almost four years now.
“He’s just amazing”, his nominators and colleagues, Jocelyn and Bronte said. “He’s always going above and beyond for his community and the Monadelphous family. Often it’s on the weekends too, if he can’t fit things in during the week”, they said. “He’s always doing something or mustering up a willing team to help out – Things like attending local business engagement events, constructing handrails for the Newman Racecourse, welding gates for the East Pilbara Race Club and plenty of other day-to-day activities.”
As the Branch Manager, Tim is always looking for new ways to support the community. Tim didn’t hesitate to get on board when he was asked to be involved in Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation Follow the Dream’s ‘Monadelphous Mechanical Mob’ program. The afterschool program is about promoting trade roles and careers by providing students with the opportunity to enhance their mechanical skills through hands on experience in a fun and friendly environment. Tim has thrived in his role as a mentor and leader, developing strong relationships with the kids he supports. “At the Newman Family Innovation Day earlier this year, it seemed like almost everyone knew him. The kids and families were so comfortable around him and were all keen to come and say hi”, Jocelyn said.
Put simply, Tim is a community person (and a dog person – his adopted four-legged pal Roxy is his pride and joy). He has worked hard to create an excellent culture in his workplace, and in leading by example, has encouraged so many others to get involved and support in the community. At the recent Newman Family Fun Run, Tim organised and supported his Monadelphous volunteers to help make the Fun Run such a successful event.
Tim is always around to listen, offer advice or provide hands on support and expertise wherever it’s needed. Thank you, Tim, for being a friend and supporter of so many of us here in Newman. You are a local leader through and through and we’re proud to celebrate all that you do as part of this special community series.
If you know someone who is worth celebrating, maybe it’s a young person who displays excellent leadership, a colleague, friend, grandparent or sports coach, nominate them today. All it takes is a few moments to help us celebrate the amazing people shaping our community!
